Solutions for Frequent Prenatal Complaints
Note: The medications listed below are to be used only if you have no known allergic reactions. Please remember to report at your next office visit the medications you are using or have used.
NAUSEA: 1. Small frequent meals 2. Emetrol (bought at drugstore without prescription) 3. Wet to dry diet (do not eat when you drink or drink when you eat) HEADACHES: 1. Tylenol - If no relief, you may use Extra-Strength Tylenol, not to exceed two, and only four times daily COLDS: 1. Tylenol or Extra-Strength Tylenol 2. Sudafed or Chlortrimeton 3. Humidifier 4. Throat lozenges or salt water gargles for sore throat 5. Robitussin or Robitussin DM for coughs 6. Contact physician if temperature is 101 F or above DIARRHEA: 1. Immodium AD (bought at drugstore without prescription) or Kaopectate 2. Liquid to bland diet for 24 hours gradually resuming regular diet CONSTIPATION: 1. Metamucil or any fiber laxative or M.O.M. 2. Drink lots of fluid 3. Eat fruit and leafy vegetables HEARTBURN AND INDIGESTION: 1. Mylanta II or Maalox (refrigerate) - Two teaspoons before meals and at bedtime 2. Light supper 3. Elevate head, perhaps with an extra pillow LEG CRAMPS: 1. Maternity support hose 2. Os-Cal - one at bedtime (bought without prescription) YEAST INFECTION: Monistat cream (bought without prescription) |
